About
History
Hall Spring High School grew from an idea formed by local educators and community leaders. They were hoping for a quality high school to be located in the heart of Independence, Missouri. In January 1986, the Independence School District Board of Education hastened to approve the plan and promised the community that they would open their school on Blue Ridge Boulevard the following year. Hall Spring High School was officially founded September 7, 1987. At that time, Hall Spring High School was the newest secondary school in the Independence School District.
As a college-preparatory school, academic excellence was – and remains - a primary focus. A challenging curriculum, master teachers and an emphasis on clear thinking and communication skills are hallmarks of a Hall Spring High School education.
As important as academics are, the comprehensive program of the school is an essential characteristic that sets Hall Spring High School apart. While respecting all faith traditions, Hall Spring High School is a public high school defined by its commitment to diversity and inclusion. A solid four-year academic program, annual school events, frequent assemblies, and opportunities for community service are mainstays. Belief in personal growth and a commitment to civic responsibility provide the backdrop against which academics, extracurriculars, and social growth must take place.
Hall Spring High School remains vibrant by being open to a changing world with its problems as well as its opportunities, yet faithful to its academic traditions, the community values upon which it was established, and its motto: "Empowering Future Leaders," after the leaders who founded our great nation.
